Nova is a quiet modern Japanese style cafe, located between Minami Morimachi and Temmabashi station.
Kissa Kishin is a brand new stylish cafe in East Kyoto’s Higashiyama ward. It’s located on top of a slope at the end of a quiet alley, on a fourteen minute walk from Keihan Line’s Shichijo Station behind the Kyoto National Museum and Toyokuni Shrine.
Kishin stands for zen but its literal meaning (喜心) is joyful mind, with that Kissa Kishin wants visitors and customers to connect with its local culture and food and take home the spirit of Kishin.
The logo displays a row of rice grains which stands for fresh rice suggesting Kishin using fresh produce for it’s meals.
京都の東山エリアに新しいおしゃれなカフェ「喫茶喜心」『きっさ きしん』が出来ています。京阪線の七条駅から徒歩で14分ぐらいに、坂の上、京都国立博物館と豊国神社の後ろにある静かな路地の奥に位置しています。
喫茶喜心の目標はお客様をローカルな文化と食べ物と繋がりたい。
The café sits in a renovated Japanese building that used to be a large dollshop and is part of Maana Kiyomizu, a new project that combines 3 suites (the bedrooms), a retail store POJ studio (the living room), and the cafe Kishin (the kitchen), all with a focus on Japanese quality and traditions.
全体の建物は昔一つの大きな物件で人形の工場がありました。リノベーションで一つの建物が小さな物件「キチン」カフェ喜心、「寝室」三つの泊まれるスイートルームと「リビング」Poj Studioのお店に分割されましたがどれでも日本のクオリティと文化が重要しています。
The entire building has a desert brown stucco with dark wood window frames. The front of the café consists of large glass windows over the entire width of the façade giving a clear look on the lovely interior and also provides the natural light that gives the café a cozy atmosphere.
建物は全体的にデザートブラウンの漆喰になって、ダークブラウンウッドのサッシでスタイリッシュ。カフェは全幅でガラス張りになって、外がら素敵で魅力的なインテリアがはっきり見えます。大きな窓で日差しが入ると居心地の良い雰囲気が演じています。
Passing through the noren (Japanese shop curtains) when entering the shop and getting a look at the interior will immediately make you fall in love with it.
On the left of the entrance you will find the stylish kitchen with a beautiful green tile backsplash. The kitchen also serves as a bar and has a number of Danish paper cord counter chairs.
店内を入ってすぐに素敵なインテリアにキュン。
入口の左側にスタイリッシュなタイル張りバックのキッチン兼バーカウンターがあり、デンマークのペーパーコードカウンターチェアがいくつか並んでいます。
From the entrance on the right is the lovely café space that immediately looks extremely inviting. The interior is Japandi style, a blend of smooth Scandinavian design with elegant Japanese aesthetics.
Some of the furniture consists of Bio low stools, Carl Hansen CH53 foot stools, beautiful smooth Scandinavian tables and a comfortable sofa seats with large pillows.
入口の右側に魅力的なカフェエリアがあります。インテリアスタイルはジャパンディで、滑らかな北欧のデザインと日本のエレガントスタイルで構成されています。
家具はBioのロースツール, Carl Hansen CH53 スツール, 滑らかな縁の北欧のテーブルと快適なソファ席で構成されています。
Against the wall in the back is a beautiful wooden shelf with decoration that consists of beautiful elegant Japanese ceramics of which a number of pieces come straight from the shop POJ studio next door as well as other antique ceramics.
On the large elliptical shaped table stands a cordless stylish brass LED tablelamp by Nao Tamura .
In the middle of the cafe area is a narrow atrium with 3 rice paper pendant lights.

Kissa Kishin’s menu consists of 5 plates: “Kissa Kishin Kyoto “Signature Breakfast”, Weekly special Sandwiches & Soup, Homemade Granola, Kishin’s Koji Bread with homemade jam and Grilled Omusubi (Brown Rice Balls with Japanese style soup”.
Each of the dishes is prepared carefully with fresh locally sourced ingredients and the presentation looks absolutely amazing with the lovely ceramics (soup comes in a Nankei cylinder cup available at POJ studio) and cutipol cuttlery.
There are also additional dishes like Fried Potatoes, Organic Sausages, Vegetable Soup and much much more. Kishin also has a large variety of drinks like Kishin’s original coffee, Japanese black tea, Matcha Oat milk latte, Seasonal home made soda and more.

喫茶喜心のメニューには五つのプレート「喫茶喜心京都朝ご飯プレート、週替わりのサンドイッチとスープ、自家製グラノラ、喜心コウジパン＆自家製ジャムとグリルお結び＆和風のスープ」から選ばれます。
各プレートは丁寧に調理されて、京都の自然な野菜が使われています。プレゼンテーションもとても素敵ですぐ食べたくなる。
さらにサイドディッシュ「フライドポテト、オーガニックソーセージ、野菜スープ、など」もあります。
ドリンクメニューにも選択「喜心オリジナルコーヒー、日本の紅茶、抹茶オートミルクラテ、季節の自家製ソーダ、など」がいっぱいあります。
ベジタリアンやグルテンフリーな食べ物もありますがスタッフに相談して下さい。

Delicious crunchy baguette with chicken, leafy greens, cottage cheese and crushed pistachios. Absolutely fantastic!

The cafe opens early in the morning at 07:30 AM and is conveniently located near Kyoto’s National Museum, Chishakuin Temple, Toyokuni Shrine and of course with their lovely partner’s shop Poj makes for a great outing.
Pictured below, Poj studio sells high quality Japanese products and tableware and also offers Kintsugi classes that will cost 6000 yen for two hours.
カフェ喜心は朝早い、午前7時半から営業が始まります。POJ スタジオが隣で、または京都国立博物館、豊国神社、智積院も近いからついでにお出かけもおすすめです。

Kissa Kishin is an absolutely wonderful café with fantastic food, a beautiful interior and a comfortable atmosphere. If you are in Kyoto this place is a must-visit.
