The name Pauhana comes from Hawaiian, meaning “after work” or a moment to relax, perfectly reflecting the café’s ethos of offering people a comfortable space away from the rush of city life. Conveniently located just a short walk from Nakazakicho Station and close to Umeda, it’s easy to access by public transit.

The story of Pauhana Coffee began on May 6, 2022, when the owner first started brewing at Sankaku Kouen in Amemura, Shinsaibashi. For about a year, the owner hosted a weekly pop-up at Haiku Coffee, he opened his own independent café on January 15, 2024, in Nakazakicho.

The shop itself is housed in a renovated blue container, its most recognizable hallmark. Inside, the atmosphere balances coziness and trendiness with casual seating and a dog-friendly policy, making it feel inclusive and relaxed. Outdoor seating offers a chance to enjoy coffee in the open air, while takeout caters to those on the go.

At the heart of Pauhana Coffee is a commitment to light-roasted specialty coffees, served alongside light desserts and small bites that fit seamlessly into Nakazakicho’s café culture.

The owner, a 25-year-old with a positive, can-do attitude, shares his vision openly:

“PAUHANA started from nothing, no money, no connections, and no guarantees. But I had one strong desire: to share the richness and culture that coffee can bring into people’s everyday lives. I opened this space to create something more than just a coffee shop, a place where people can slow down, connect, and discover something beautiful in the ordinary. We focus on light-roasted coffees with vibrant fruit notes, hoping each cup brings a little joy and reflection.”

With its proximity to Nakazakicho Station, welcoming container space, and specialty coffee focus, Pauhana Coffee has become a destination for both locals and travelers seeking a break in the city. パウハナコーヒーの始まりは2022年5月6日。オーナーが心斎橋・アメ村の三角公園で初めてコーヒーを淹れたところから始まりました。その後、約1年間Haiku Coffeeで週1回のポップアップを続け、2024年1月15日に中崎町に自分のお店をオープンしました。

お店は青いコンテナを改装した建物で、店内は落ち着きとおしゃれさが合わさった雰囲気。カジュアルな席や犬同伴OKのルールもあり、誰でも気軽にくつろげます。外にはテラス席もあり、テイクアウトも利用できます。

コーヒーは浅煎りのスペシャルティコーヒーにこだわり、フルーティーで明るい味わいが特徴。軽いスイーツや軽食も揃い、中崎町のカフェらしいスタイルです。

25歳のオーナーは前向きな姿勢で、こう語っています「PAUHANAは、お金もコネも保証もなく、本当にゼロからのスタートでした。でも、どうしても伝えたい思いがありました。コーヒーが毎日の生活にもたらす豊かさや文化を共有したい、ただそれだけです。この場所は、ただのカフェではなく、人がゆっくり過ごし、つながり、日常の中で小さな美しさを見つけられる空間にしたいと思っています。私たちは浅煎りのフルーティーなコーヒーにこだわり、一杯一杯が小さな喜びや気づきにつながることを願っています。」
