In The Coffee occupies the front section of a renovated kyomachiya, sharing the building with Biblioteca, a knitwear manufacturer from Nara located just behind the café. At the very back sits Gallery Gobangura, a historically significant kura-style warehouse built in the mid-Meiji period as part of a wealthy merchant estate active since the Edo era. The name 'Gobangura'—literally the 'fifth kura'—reflects its place within the estate, whose legacy is closely tied to Kyoto’s textile and cotton trade. Today, the building has been preserved as a contemporary gallery, blending traditional architecture with modern use.

The cafe features a contemporary facade that thoughtfully reinterprets traditional Kyoto machiya architecture, featuring the classic two-story proportions and signature elements of historic townhouses. イン・ザ・コーヒーは、改装された京町家の前部に位置し、そのすぐ奥には奈良のニットメーカー『ビブリオテカ』が併設されており、そのさらに奥には『五番蔵』というギャラリーがあります。五番蔵は、江戸時代から続く豪商の屋敷の一部で、明治中期に建てられた蔵造りの建物です。名前の通り『五番目の蔵』を意味し、当時の京都の繊維や綿業と深い関わりを持っていました。今では、伝統的な建築を生かしながら、現代的なギャラリーとして活用されています。

この京町屋は、昔ながらの京都の町家を現代風にアレンジしたデザインです。伝統的な2階建ての形と町家らしい特徴を残しています。1階部分には濃い色の縦格子があり、プライバシーを守りながらも見た目が美しくなっています。2階には竹のすだれがあって、建物の印象を和らげ、やわらかい光を室内に取り入れています。

暖簾のかかった入り口を抜けると、すぐ左手の小上がりにカフェがあります。店内に入ると、リロ自慢のブレンドコーヒーが販売されている丸いテーブルがあり、右にはフレンドリーなスタッフがお客様をお迎えするオーダーカウンターがあります。
