Vermillion - station. (instagram.com/vermillion_espresso) is a Kyoto café complex that opened in September 2025, directly facing Higashi Honganji Temple and within about an 8-minute walk from Kyoto Station Exit 1 or 8 minute walk from Karasuma Line - Gojo Station exit 5. Conceived as a hybrid space for café service, Kyoto-themed souvenirs, and workshops, it is designed as a calm urban stopover for both travelers and local residents moving through the Kyoto Station area. The name “Vermillion” is shared with the brand’s original Fushimi Inari locations and refers to the vivid vermilion color of the shrine’s torii gates, tying this new branch to the visual identity of Kyoto’s most iconic religious site.​

The exterior features a simple cyan-blue hue facade with marble benches along the front next to the entrance. The building incorporates a renovated Kyoto machiya that used to be a Buddhist altar shop that was more than a 100 years old, combining traditional wooden architecture with design elements by the owners’ long residence in Melbourne. Inside, the interior blends classic machiya elements, exposed timber, original woodwork, sandwalls with contemporary café fixtures that support a casual, open-plan seating style suited to solo guests and small groups.

The café is spread across two floors. On the ground level, the kitchen and order counter sit near the entrance, alongside a few tables, a striking communal table carved from a single polished hardwood tree trunk at the center of the space, and window-side seating. A retail area is tucked further to the right.

Upstairs, the main café area opens up with additional seating, including tables for two and four, a large communal table at the back, soft pouf seating by the windows, and an elevated tatami platform thoughtfully refurbished as seating with small tables.

The cafe's position opposite Higashi Honganji create a streetscape where visitors can look out toward the temple area, making the large temple view a principal visual attraction of the space.​

The food and drink lineup follows the Vermillion cafe's established focus on specialty coffee and brunch-style dishes. Coffee is offered in both espresso and drip formats, featuring a house blend alongside seasonal single-origin beans, complemented by alternatives such as Uji matcha lattes, single-origin Ceylon tea, soft drinks, and Japanese beer. The kitchen emphasizes homemade brunch plates built around locally sourced bread, sausages, and seasonal vegetables, alongside options like hummus plates, smashed avocado on toast, and a rotating range of baked sweets including muffins, cookies, banana bread, and seasonal cakes, with attention to vegetarian and vegan-friendly choices where possible.

Vermillion - station. 「ヴァーミリオン ステーション」（instagram.com/vermillion_espresso）は、京都駅1番出口、烏丸線五条駅5番出口からともに徒歩約8分。東本願寺の向かい側に位置する、2025年9月にオープンしたカフェ施設です。カフェサービス、京都をテーマにしたお土産の販売、ワークショップなどを組み合わせたハイブリッドな空間として構想され、京都駅周辺を移動する方にとって落ち着いた場所となるよう設計されている。「Vermillion」という名前は、グループの元祖・伏見稲荷の店舗と同じで、神社の鳥居に使われる鮮やかな朱色を指しています。

外観はシンプルなシアンブルーの色合いのファサードで、入り口横の正面に沿って大理石のベンチが並んでいます。建物は、築100年以上の仏壇店だった京都の町家を改装したもので、伝統的な木造建築とオーナーが長年住んでいたメルボルンのデザイン要素が融合しています。店内は、露出した木材やオリジナルの木製窓・サッシ、土壁といった町家の伝統的な要素に、ひとりでもグループでも過ごしやすい、カジュアルで開放的な座席と現代的なカフェ設備を融合させた空間です。

カフェは2階建てで、1階の奥にはキッチンとオーダーカウンターがあり、入口付近には少人数向けのテーブル席が並びます。空間の中央には、迫力のある、磨き上げられた無垢材の丸太を使った共用テーブルが置かれ、窓際にも席が用意されています。右手奥には物販スペースもあります。

2階はメインのカフェエリアで、2人掛け・4人掛けのテーブル席のほか、奥には大きな共用テーブル、窓際にはプーフ席、さらに畳を活かした小上がり席など、さまざまなタイプの座席が用意されています。

カフェは東本願寺の向かいに位置し、街並みから寺のエリアを眺めることができ、お寺の景色がこのカフェの主な視覚的魅力となっています。

フードとドリンクは、スペシャルティコーヒーとブランチを中心に、これまでのVermillionらしいラインナップが揃います。コーヒーはエスプレッソとドリップの両方で提供され、ハウスブレンドと季節のシングルオリジン豆が特徴で、宇治抹茶ラテ、シングルオリジンセイロンティー、ソフトドリンク、日本ビールなどの代替品も揃っています。キッチンでは、地元産のパン、ソーセージ、季節の野菜を使った自家製ブランチプレートに重点を置いています。また、フムスプレート、潰したアボカドを乗せたトースト、マフィン、クッキー、バナナブレッド、季節のケーキなどの焼き菓子も定期的に提供されており、ベジタリアンやビーガン向けのオプションもあります。
