Nestled in a quiet sidestreet just off the bustling Oike dori, a mere 7-minute walk from Karasuma Line's Karasuma-Oike station, you'll discover the trendy 'Tarel cafe' and wine bar.

Tarel is run by a friendly owner and what makes Tarel unique is its unconventional location inside a shipping container. It's a part of the "Shikiami Con Con" office community, where various refurbished shipping containers form a complex of creative workspaces.

The name "Tarel" derives from the Japanese word "tareru," meaning "to hang, to sag, to droop," which playfully reflects the owner's "droopy eyes." The cozy cafe/bar occupies the ground floor of the Shikiami Con Con building, conveniently situated near the entrance of the complex.

Inside, Tarel is mainly a tachinomiya (standing bar) but there are a handful of seats. If weather permits, there are also two benches outside to enjoy. Tarel offers a simple menu featuring coffee, delicious sweets, a simple lunch plate, and, of course, a selection of wines.

Tarel is a cafe and bar situated in a unique building with a really friendly owner and makes a great place for a quick coffee or a bite.

「タレル」という店名は、日本語の「垂れる」に由来しており、面白くて、店主の「たれ目」から名付けられたらし。

店内は立ち飲みがメインですがいくつかの席があります。天気が良い日に外にある二つのベンチでも座れます。メニューでは、コーヒー、おいしいスイーツ、シンプルなランチプレート、そしてもちろん厳選されたワインで構成されています。
