In the middle of Kyoto, on a short walk from Hankyu Kyoto line’s Karasuma station is the stylish ramenshop called ‘Sugari’. Sugari opened it’s doors in 2021 and is located in a renovated historic machiya.

It's a two-floor machiya that comes complete with a white ‘kura’ storehouse and beautiful courtyard in the back. The shop has no name or sign on the building so it’s quite difficult to find, but if you see a line in front of the shop you are definitely at Sugari.

The shop has two doors, one on the right that serves as the entrance and one on the left for the exit. Entering the shop you will pass through a small hallway into a waiting space. Before you can enter and get a seat on the second floor you will have to order your ramen on the digital display. Please note that payments can only be made digitally.

The menu is small with a selection between ramen , tsukemen or curry tsukemen. You can then choose between standard noodles or yuzu (citrus) noodles and between motsu (guts portions of meat) or chashu (roasted pork fillet) as a topping.

After you made your order you will go up the stairs and take a seat at a 30 meter counter where you will wait for your order to arrive. There will be a drawer right in front of you containing chopsticks, napkins and a selection of seasonings. The whole space is a beautiful mix of Japanese showa era design combined with a contemporary interior style and elegant elements such as the wallpaper.

While eating you can enjoy a view over the kitchen or if you are lucky enough to sit at the end of the table a view over the courtyard. Be careful! There is no window to block you from falling.

After you are finished you will have to go down the stairs in the back, passing the inner courtyard and to the exit in the front.

Sugari is a great ramen shop with a stylish interior that sells delicious ramen, conveniently located in central Kyoto that's definitely worth a visit.

2021年にオープンして、京都中心阪急京都線の烏丸駅から徒歩で5分以内におしゃれなラーメン屋さん「Sugari」『すがり』が改装されたの町屋の中にあります。

すがりは2階建ての京町屋で、後ろに素敵な中庭に綺麗な倉も立っています。

外観にはお店の看板やロゴがついてないので、結構見つけにくいかもしれない。人気のお店だから前によく行列があるからそれですがりさんでわかります。入口と出口はバラバラになって扉は二つがあります。お店に入って、短い通路を通るとウェイティングルームがあります。席は2階にあり、座る前に1階のデジタルパネルでオーダーと支払いになります。支払いは電子お金しか出来ないので気を付けて下さい。

メニューは小さくて、ラーメン、つけ麺やカレーつけ麺しかない。麺は普通や柚子麺、トッピングはもつやチャーシューから選ばれます。

オーダーしてから、階段を上がって、2階にある30メートルのカウンターの席で座れます。待っている間に空間をエンジョイできます。空間はとてもスタイリッシュでモダン和風とコンテンポラリーなデザインのミックスです。壁紙もエレガントです。

食べながら空間やキッチンを見るの楽しみ出来るし、もし運が良かったらカウンターの一番奥の席で座れれば、奥にある中庭と倉を楽しめることが出来ます。窓がないので落ちないように気を付けて下さい。

食べ終わったら、奥にある階段を下りて、中庭を通って、フロントにある扉からお店を出ます。

すがりは便利な場所にあり、とてもおしゃれでとても美味しいなラーメン屋さんで非常におすすめです。
