Although not a conventional cafe, 'Pota Pota' is the name of the "foodstall/kitchen" run by a friendly lady who prepares incredibly delicious lunches twice a week at Mibu Mokuren cafe. Nestled just a 7-minute stroll away from Hankyu Kyoto Line's Saiin Station, Mibu Mokuren offers a unique shared space where customers can taste various menus crafted by different owners and cooks.

Situated within a charming kyomachiya, Mibu Mokuren boasts a retro interior decorated with dried flowers and antiques, creating a nostalgic ambiance. The cafe provides a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, featuring a counter and a cozy sofa at the back, ensuring a comfortable experience, even for solo visitors.

Pota Pota's menu showcases a daily lunch plate prepared with the freshest ingredients. In the photo below, you can catch a glimpse of a delicious "Croque Monsieur" accompanied by spring vegetables, snap peas in white sauce, Kyoto pork ham, cheese, potage Saint Germain (green pea potage), summer mandarin, Ayame snow turnip, radicchio (Italian chicory), cauliflower steamed in olive oil, and a refreshing green salad. Alongside the wholesome lunch options, Pota Pota also offers a selection of yummy sweets plates.

Operated by the friendly owner, Pota Pota serves up fantastic lunches and delightful sweets plates and a visit is heavily recommended. While she typically works at Mibu Mokuren on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we recommend checking her Instagram for precise dates before planning your visit.
