'Kononeki' is a lovely café that is located in a quiet neighborhood on a 15 minute walk from Karasuma Line - KitaOji Station in North West Kyoto's area.

The café opened on January 31, 2021 and sits in a renovated kyomachiya that is over 80 years old and used to be a weavers building. The exterior is a mix of of traditional Japanese with the front window covered by a wood lattice (itoya-goshi) frame and also features has a lovely new rustic style wood entrance door. 

Inside you will find a deep interior with a rustic design featuring white stucco walls and pine wood flooring. The kitchen area sits near the front/entrance with the seating area and small shop space in the back. The seating consists of two tables for two, a large table for four, three counter seats near the wall, three kitchen counter seats and even a private outdoor space for two in the small courtyard in the back. The furniture consists of oak wood tables which adds to the rustic charm of the cafe.

Occasionally Kononeki also serves as a small gallery and even throws handcraft events. The tableware used at the cafe and newly sold at Kononeki are handmade by Marumitsu pottery from Aichi prefecture and Kononeki also sells homebaked bread.

The menu consists of a morning set (09:30 - 11:00) with a French toast set, for lunch (11:00 ~) you can choose from a daily sandwich set, a egg sandwich set, a hot sandwich, various toasts and desserts including basque cheese cake, browny and icecream or a mix of baked sweets. The bread used for some of the dishes are homemade bread using Kitanokaori flour from Hokkaido. The food comes with lovely tableware from Marumitsu pottery.

Kononeki is a lovely cafe that serves delicious food in a cozy and rustic setting. On top of that they also sell homemade bread and have lovely tableware and accessories for sale which makes this cafe great for a nice lunch/shopping combo.

京都市北西部、烏丸線北大路駅から徒歩15分、閑静な住宅街に素敵なカフェ「Kononeki - コノネキ」があります。

2021年1月31日にオープンして、築80年以上の織屋建ての京町家をリノベーションしたカフェです。外観は糸屋格子と新しいラスティックしたデザインのウッド扉の入口で伝統的な和風のデザインとラスティックのミックスです。

店内は広々として、白い漆喰の壁とパイン材のフローリングでラスティックなインテリアデザインになっています。キッチンエリアは入口の隣にあり、カフェの奥にシーティングスペースと小さな販売アレアで構成されています。お客席は2人用のテーブル二つ、4人用のテーブル一つと3人用のカウンターが二つあり、さらにお店の奥にある坪庭にも2人用のアウトドア席もあります。家具は全部オーク材でよりラスティック、居心地の良い雰囲気が出ます。

Kononekiではギャラリーとしても機能し、手作りイベントも開催しています。 カフェで使用している食器や、Kononekiで販売されている食器は、愛知県のMarumitsu陶器さんの作品です。Kononekiでは自家製パンも販売しています。

メニューはフレンチトーストセットのあるモーニングセット(9:30～11:00)、ランチ(11:00～)は日替わりサンドイッチセット、エッグサンドセット、ホットサンド、トースト各種からお選びいただけます バスクチーズケーキ、ブラウニー、アイスクリーム、または焼き菓子のミックスなどのデザートもあります。 一部の料理に使用しているパンは、北海道産キタノカオリ小麦粉を使用した自家製パンです。 料理にはMarumitsu陶器の素敵な食器が使われています。
