In Northern Kyoto on a 10 minute walk from Randen Line's Kitanohakubaicho Station and just around the corner of Jam Jar Loung & Inn is Knot Café.

Knot Café is located in a renovated silk warehouse that was build over 100 years ago and opened it's doors in 2015. Knot's concept is to connect people and people, things and things and businesses with businesses hence the name knot.

From the outside the café is easy to recognize with its all-white wood board exterior. The entrance consists of large glass windows inside a small portico that has red brick walls on the sides.

Knot is a renovated kominka with a spacious interior that combines retro with a modern interior style. It has a high vaulted ceiling that still features the remaining wood framework and beams of the old kominka. The walls, floor and counter are all a combination of smooth concrete and oak board walls. The wall in the back features a large nit duvet with the map of Manhattan on their wall as a homage to Grumpy Coffee which sits in Manhattan area.

Cafe Knot prides itself on it's connections with other shops in Tenmangu area as well as abroad. Their coffee uses beans that are roasted and imported from America's Grumpy Coffee, their signature food: dashi maki egg and red bean paste use buns from authentic French-style boulangerie Le Petit Mec and they sell chocolates and chocolate brownies from Senbon Tamajuken. They also have sister café in Brooklyn New York called Parlor Coffee.  Their red bean paste buns are delicious and go well with a hot cup of coffee or chai latte.

Knot Cafe is a cozy cafe with a nice spacious interior that is good for a visit before or after visiting the famous Kitano Tenmangu shrine. We recommend visiting Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, then have a nice lunch at Jam Jar and follow that up with a nice cup of coffee and a red bean paste bun at Knot Cafe for a satisfying outing.

京都市北西に位置し北野白梅町駅から徒歩10分、有名な北野天満宮から徒歩5分の場所にスタイリッシュで居心地の良いカフェ「ノット」があります。

ノットカフェの建物は約100年前建てられて、西陣織の倉庫だった。改装してから、2015年にオープンして、名前は結ぶの意味があります。「ヒトとヒト」、「モノとモノ」、「コトとコト」を結ぶカフェです。

外観は全面白いウッドボードになっていますが、入口はポルティコで大きなガラス張りで、側面は赤レンガの壁になっています。

カフェノットはリノベーションされた古民家でインテリアが広くて、レトロとモダンのインテリアスタイルに構成しています。天井が高くて、舟底天井で古民家の木組みがまだ残っています。壁、床とカウンターはスムーズコンクリートの仕上げとウッドボードに構成されています。奥にある壁には大きいなマンハッタンの地図のデザインされた羽毛布団が垂れています。

ノットカフェには国内と海外の連携が大事です。販売されているコーヒーはアメリカのGrumpy Coffeeから焙煎と輸入されています。だし巻きサンドと小豆サンドはフレンチスタイルパン屋さんLe Petit Mecのパンが使われています。チョコレートとブラウニーは千本玉壽軒も販売しています。ニューヨークのブルックリンにパーラーコーヒーの姉妹店もあります。

ノットカフェは広くて、居心地の良いカフェですが、北野天満宮のお出かけのついでにとてもおすすめです。おすすめの流れは北野天満宮＞＞ジャムジャーでランチ＞＞ノットカフェでコーヒーとスイーツです。
