Located in North Kyoto on a short walking distance from Kyoto Botanical Gardens and Kitaoji station is 'Kita Oji Roastery Lab' a new cafe that opened in September 2022. The cafe is located on the groundfloor of a new building in the shopping arcade along the Kitaoji Dori.

As the name says, the cafe's concept is a coffee 'laboratory' and with that has a sterile modern and minimal interior that uses mostly concrete and metal. The kitchen counter wall and cupboards however are coated with Kyoto Kurotani washi (Japanese handmade paper), which is apparently one of the strongest in the world. To complete the 'lab' look the staff wears long white lab coats which features a diamond logo that represents a perfect unique cut shape which represents coffee drops that also each have a perfect shape.

Besides the interior, Kitooji Roastery Lab also uses stylish ceramics for its drinks and foods made by Kasamayaki in Ibaragi prefecture and have a unique design.

Naturally the menu consists mainly of coffee including: drip coffee, aeropress, espresso (cafe latte 550 yen), shakerato and espresso tonic. All in various blends and milk, soy milk or oat milk are optional extras for cold brews. For the non coffee drinkers there is also apple juice. For sweets they offer delicious cornbread and coffee jelly.

Kitaoji Roastery Lab is a stylish coffeeshop with friendly staff and a variety of delicious coffee that is conveniently located nearby Kyoto Botanical Garden so also great in combination with an outing.

京都北部、京都植物園と北大路駅の近くに新しいおしゃれなカフェ「北大路焙煎室」が2022年9月にオープンしました。新しい建設されたビルの1階にあり、北大路通沿いのショッピングアーケードにあります。

カフェのコンセプトは研究室のイメージで、インテリアも研究室のように無菌で、主にコンクリートとメタルの素材が使われてモダンとミニマルのインテリアになっています。カップボードの扉とキッチンカウンターの腰壁は京都黒谷和紙「世界中最も強い和紙と言われる」で覆われています。研究室のようにスタッフも白衣を着てて、白衣にダイアモンドのロゴがついてて、ダイアモンドはいつも完璧にカットされて、一つずつのコーヒー滴も同じようにパーフェクトの形のイメージしています。

インテリア以外には茨城県の「笠間焼」のおしゃれな陶器が使われています。

メニューはもちろん主にコーヒー「ドリップコーヒー、エアロプレス、エスプレッソ「カフェラテ　550円」、シェカラートとエスプレッソトニック」があります。ブレンドは様々にあるし、別料金で追加にミルク、Soyミルクやオートミルクから選ばれます。コーヒーが飲めない方にはリンゴジュースがあります。スイーツにはコーンブレッドとコーヒージェリーもあります。

北大路焙煎室はスタッフがフレンドリーで様々な美味しいコーヒーがあるおしゃれのカフェです。京都植物園も近くにあるからついでにお出かけでもおすすめです。
