In North-East Kyoto's Tsukamotocho area, in a quiet neighborhood is the stylish baked sweets shop and cafe called 'Hihautau'. Hihautau means 'The day sings' in Japanese and opened it's doors in July of 2019. It's located in a stylish 'residence/office' on a six minute walk from Eizan Line's Chayama station.

The residence stands out with its modern design consisting of a concrete base with canopy and vertical wood boards that run from the second floor all the way to the rooftop which has an asymmetrical shed type design. The café is located on the first floor of the house and consists of a front area and main area in the back and the owner's living and working space on the second floor. The entrance is on the right side of the building, following a narrow path to the courtyard. The courtyard sits in between the front and rear part of the café and has a contemporary design with stairs for the people living/working upstairs.

You will be able to choose from a seat in the front, back or courtyard area with up to 16 seats to choose from. The front area has sliding glass doors so if its not crowded you will have some privacy.

The café sells mainly delicious baked sweets (poundcake, scone, etc) and also has a large selection of cookies. In the warmer periods it also sells delicious bowls of shaved ice-cream. The bowls come in various flavors (melon, matcha, spice ginger, lemon and many more) and are quite big (size of a pineapple) and depending on the flavor come with delicious fresh fruit toppings, syrup and a merengue.

Hihautau is a stylish café that sells delicious sweets and shaved ice that is worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.

京都北東部の静かの住宅街にスタイリッシュな焼き菓子店「日はうたう」があります。日はうたうは2019年の7月にオープンして、叡山線の茶山駅から徒歩で6分に家と事務所の1戸建てに位置しています。

カフェの外観は1階は全体打ちっぱなしコンクリートで庇の上から片流屋根まで縦のウッドパネルで覆われて、モダンなデザインになっています。カフェスペースは建物の1階で手前の建物と奥の建物、二つのスペースに分かれています。2階はオーナーの家と工務店のオフィスになっています。入口は建物の右側で狭い通路は中庭に辿り着きます。中庭は前と奥の建物の間に挟まれて、コンテンポラリーなデザインになっています。

お客席は奥のメインスペース、手前のカフェエリアと中庭の16お客席から選ばれます。手前のスペースはガラス扉で閉じれますが、他のお客様がいないとちょっとプライベートのスペースになります。

メニューにはもちろん焼き菓子「パウンドケーキ、スコーンなど」と様々な美味しいクッキーがあります。さらに、温度が上がったらかき氷も販売されます。かき氷も「メロン、抹茶、スパイスジンジャー、レモンなど」フレーバーが多くあります。サイズはパインアップルぐらいで種類によってフルーツ、メレンゲとシロップもついてきます。
