Delicious sandwiches, stylish interior and cheerful staff, welcome to 'Focacciamo' - instagram.com/focaccia.japan, a new sandwich café in Central Osaka.Opened in October 2024, the café is conveniently located a short walk from Morinomiya Station on the Chuo Line, on the ground floor of a small office building along Chuo Dori. True to its name, Focacciamo specializes in sandwiches made with freshly baked focaccia bread.
The exterior has a charming, Italian-inspired café style with a simple yet inviting façade featuring e black-and-white striped awning, which adds a classic, vintage touch. Below the awning is the cafe’s name "FOCACCIAMO," in bold, red letters, which contrasts sharply against the white-painted building, giving it a retro appeal. The large window is framed in red, allowing visibility into the cafe's interior while also showcasing a logo that reads "Freshly Baked Focaccia, Italian Sandwiches." Outside, there are two small round tables with several woven bistro-style chairs, perfect for outdoor seating.
The interior of "Focacciamo" combines modern minimalism with industrial touches, creating a casual and open atmosphere. The focal point of the interior is the counter area, which is spacious and functional, with an organized display of ingredients and kitchen tools behind a glass partition. Above the counter, a large, abstract, white neon light installation adds an artistic and playful element, drawing attention and giving the space a unique character. Red accents, like the window frame and other small decor elements, subtly echo the brand's color theme. Near the front window, seating consists of high, tile-topped pedestal tables and a wooden bench along the wall, providing a spot for customers to enjoy a quick meal. The tile design of the tables adds a retro vibe. Enhancing the Italian ambiance, classic Italian music plays throughout the cafe, adding to the lively and authentic feel.
The menu centers around their specialty—focaccia sandwiches—with nine unique varieties, such as Herb Chicken & Lemon, Tuna Tomato, Salmon, Veggie, and Porchetta. Each focaccia is generously stuffed and served in charming red boxes, making for an eye-catching presentation. Beyond focaccia, there are also sweet treats like tiramisu and French toast. On the drink menu, Focacciamo offers a range of coffee options, from espresso, americano, and latte (600 yen) to cappuccino, caramel latte, and matcha latte. Soft drinks and even beer are also available, providing something for everyone.
With its cheerful staff, inviting atmosphere, and incredible focaccia sandwiches, Focacciamo is a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of Italy in a stylish, relaxed setting.
