Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in South-East Osaka's Yao district, the lovely 'Cuddle Day Coffee' cafe can be found on just a 10 minute walk from Kintetsu Yao Station on the Kintetsu Osaka Line's. The café is housed in a fully renovated Japanese nagaya building that is over 50 years old. The café is run by Mrs Yamaki and Mrs Matsuba, two wonderful ladies who have extensive experience as baristas working at renowned cafes such as Nito Coffee and The Otherside Coffee and decided to team up like two superhero baristas to create their own wonderful café.

The name 'Cuddle Day Coffee' was chosen by the owners with the intention of gently accompanying everyone in their daily lives. They also wanted it to be a place for mothers who are working hard raising their children to relax, as well as a place where mothers and children can enjoy the café together. The name also conveys the meaning of mothers giving a tight hug to their children and spending time together as a family."

Cuddle Day Coffee sits in the middle of a row of old and aged Nagaya but stands out with its cumberland fog (mix of light blue and grey) colored exterior and the lovely wooden entrance. The nagaya cafe is only one floor and was mostly renovated by the owners who did a splendid job at turning it into a comfortable and cozy cafe. Entering the shop you will immediately fall in love with the interior that consists of some antique furniture pieces and various lovely glass pendant lights. But the centerpiece of the interior is the former wardrobe that has been turned into a cozy two-person nook with lovely pillows and wooden log for side-table. In total there are about 13 seats consisting of sofa and counter seats.

The extensive menu offers a diverse selection of drinks and freshly home baked sweets. From a range of coffee options, such as espresso, americano, cold brew, hand-drip, to a variety of lattes like café latte (priced at 500 yen), caramel latte, hazelnut latte, matcha latte, and more.  Besides coffee the café also sells various teas, organic softdrinks (which includes a homemade spice chai latte), home made sodas and organic apple or orange juice for kids.

The sweets include delicious muffins, brownies, pound-cake and large vegan cuddle logo cookies. Handle with care! Some of the sweets are vegan or gluten-free, for more info ask the staff.

Another mention go to the business cards, that showcase a heartwarming image of a parent and a child's holding a drink, with the phrase "A coffee is a hug in a mug" printed in small letters in the coffee, a nod to the café's name, 'Cuddle Day Coffee.' These eco-friendly cards are printed on recycled paper made from used coffee grounds, giving them a warm, latte-colored hue.

近鉄大阪線の近鉄八尾駅から徒歩わずか10分、大阪南東部の八尾地区の閑静な住宅街に、素敵なカフェ「Cuddle Day Coffee」『カドルデイコーヒー』があります。 築50年以上の長屋をリノベーションしたカフェです。 カドルデイコーヒーは、以前Nito Coffee や The Otherside Coffee などの有名なカフェでバリスタとして働き豊富な経験を持ち、明るくて素敵な山木さんと松葉さんによって営まれています。そんなスーパーヒーローのようなバリスタがタッグを組んで、独自の素敵なカフェを立ち上げました。

店名の由来はオーナーに聞いたら：「ぎゅーと抱きしめる、寄り添うと言う英語で、"皆さんの日常にそっと寄り添いたい"という思いで、cuddle dayにしました。

Cuddle Day Coffee は古い長屋の並びの真ん中にありますが、「カンバーランド フォグ」 (薄い水色とグレーのミックス) 色の外観と素敵な木製の扉が目を引き、すぐにカフェだとわかります。カフェはワンフロアのみで、ほぼ全部オーナー自身の手によってリノベーションされ、ゆったりと過ごせるカフェへと生まれ変わりました。 店内に入ると、アンティーク調の家具や素敵なガラスのペンダントライトでコーディネートされたインテリアのかわいさにキュン。 ただインテリアについて特筆すべきは、二人用のソファコーナーです。元々は押入だったスペースを改装し、素敵な枕とサイドテーブル用の木製の丸太を備えた居心地の良い空間となっています。 ソファ席とカウンター席合わせてお客席約13席があります。

メニューは豊富で、様々なドリンクと焼きたての自家製スイーツがあります。 エスプレッソ、アメリカーノ、コールドブリュー、ハンドドリップなど豊富な種類のコーヒーから、カフェラテ(500円)、キャラメルラテ、ヘーゼルナッツラテ、抹茶ラテなどまで。 コーヒー以外にも、様々なお茶、オーガニック ソフトドリンク (自家製スパイス チャイ ラテもあり)、自家製ソーダと子供向けのオーガニック アップルまたはオレンジ ジュースもあります。

スイーツは、マフィンやブラウニー、パウンドケーキ、ビーガンのカドルロゴ入りの大きなクッキーもあります。ビーガンやグルテンフリーのスイーツもございますので、詳しくはスタッフの方にお尋ねください。

最後に、特別にご紹介したいのがカフェの名刺です。「A coffee is a hug in a mug」『直訳：コーヒーはカップに入ったハグです』というフレーズがコーヒーラテのように小さな文字で印刷されている名刺には、親と子が飲み物を持っている心温まるイメージが描かれています。これらの環境に優しいカードは、使用済みのコーヒーかすから作られた再生紙に印刷されており、温かみのあるラテ色になっています。
