If you are looking for a unique and cozy cafe in Kyoto, perhaps "Woven" in the Sakyo-Ward in East Kyoto might be the place you are looking for. The café sits in a quiet neighborhood, a little North of Heianjingu shrine and Okazakipark on the ground floor of a small corner building and can be reached by either bus 32, 203 busstop Okazakimichi or bus 201, 65 busstop KumanoJinja Mae. The building used to be a bicycle shop until it was renovated into the lovely café it is right now.

From the moment you arrive at the café your interest will be piqued by its peculiar exterior that features a Mediterranean style stucco combined with a wooden arch shaped door for the entrance. The door is quite low and requires you to duck when entering the café adding a sense of mystery. Inside you will be welcomed by a small cozy rustic interior that is a mix of Mediterranean and African elements. The cafe features a large hard wood countertop that sits on a fieldstone in cement counterwall. The cafe is decorated with lots of peculiar antique and foreign items, one more intriguing than the other. Most of the lighting comes from the outside through the windows which gives the cafe a warm atmosphere. The cafe is narrow and only has wooden stools for up to six customers.

The menu consists of coffee and includes  drip, flannel drip, milk coffee as well as some quite peculiar ones like demitasse, Gaelic coffee and rum coffee. There is also an option to pair coffees to compare two types. The cafe also offers two types of sweets including seasonal yokan (a wagashi made of red bean paste, agar, and sugar.) or kinako (soy bean) stick.

Woven is a delightful café with a magical atmosphere that lets you escape the daily hustle and enjoy a variety of coffees in a cozy, rustic setting.

東京都の左京区エリアに「Woven」『オーベン』という居心地の良い雰囲気でちょっとユニークなカフェがあります。平安神宮と岡崎公園より少し北の方、角の建物の1階にあり、バスで32番、203番岡崎道バス停また201番、65番熊野神社前バス停でアクセスが出来ます。建物は素敵なカフェにリノベーションされた前に自転車屋さんだったみたい。

着く瞬間に地中海ような漆喰とアーチ刑のウッド扉の入口で特徴な外観にすぐドキドキになります。しかも、入口の扉の高さは結構低いので、お店に入る時は必ずしゃがまないとだめですが、扉の高さでよりミステリアスな雰囲気になってます。店内はこじんまりとした居心地の良い雰囲気のインテリアがあり、地中海とアフリカンのエレメントのミックスなインテリアスタイルになっています。カウンター天板は無垢材とフィールドストーンで作られている腰壁で構成されています。あちこちにとても特徴な小物の飾りがあり、どれでも気になります。ライティングは大きな窓に差し込んでいる日光がメインでより暖かい雰囲気が出ます。小さなカフェですが、ウッドカウンターチェアが6人ようしかない。

メニューはコーヒーがおり、ドリップ、ネルドリップ、ミルクコーヒーと、デミタスコーヒー、ゲーリックコーヒー、ラムコーヒーなどの少し特殊なコーヒーもあります。 2種類のコーヒーを飲み比べるオプションもあります。季節限定の羊羹やきなこ棒の2種類のスイーツからも選べます。

Wovenはとてもこじんまりとした居心地の良い雰囲気のインテリアと美味しいコーヒーでとてもユニークな経験が出来るカフェで、とてもおすすめです。
