Located beside the wide-open Irino Beach in Kuroshio, SUNLIFE COFFEE WAVES (instagram.com/sunlife_coffee). is a relaxed seaside café where specialty coffee meets the natural beauty of the Tosa coast. The area has a long history as a stopping point for people travelling through the region, including pilgrims making their way along the Shikoku pilgrimage routes, who would stop here to rest before continuing their journey.
The café began as a small coffee stand at Tosa-Irino Station before moving to its current seaside location in 2025. Today, it occupies part of Umi no Bazaar, just steps from the beach and surrounded by the spacious landscape of Tosa Seinan Daikibo Park.
Coffee is at the heart of the menu, with carefully selected beans ranging from light to dark roasts, along with original blends inspired by the local environment. There are also simple sweets and food, making it an easy place to stop for a coffee before heading down to the beach.
The interior is bright and spacious, with a casual atmosphere that feels closely connected to the outdoors. Large openings bring in plenty of natural light, while terrace seating allows visitors to enjoy the ocean air. The exterior is similarly understated, with the surrounding beach and Pacific Ocean providing most of the visual impact.
The main attraction is the setting. With Irino Beach stretching out directly in front of the café, SUNLIFE COFFEE WAVES. feels less like a café you simply visit and more like a place to pause during a journey. It continues a tradition of stopping, resting and taking in the landscape, much as travellers and pilgrims have done in this area for generations.
