Starbucks Ninenzaka branch is a special entry due to its location and it's interior & exterior design. It's located in the middle of the famous sightseeing hotspot Higashiyama area and is the first Starbucks that is situated in a renovated machiya. The beautiful Japanese facade blends in with the surrounding Japanese shops located along the cobblestone Ninenzaka Path that is featured over and over in magazines, instagram and travel blogs. The building has two floors with the order and barista counter on the ground floor and the seating area on the second floor. The seating area is divided in separate areas each with a different design and atmosphere. The rooms in the back have a tatami flooring and to sit there you will need to take of your shoes. The tatami floor room has a beautiful view over the Japanese garden in the back of the cafe. There is another smaller, raised tatami floor located in near the hallway that leads to the front of the cafe. The room in the front side of the cafe has a lovely view over the Ninen-zaka street and the yasaka pagoda.
