Arashiyama, famous for it’s beautiful bamboo grove, the Togetsu bridge that crosses the Katsura river, the Tenryuji zen temple, the picturesque main street with all the lovely shops and now also bread!

What is better than eating bread? Well, eating bread in a beautiful Japanese garden. Which is the concept of the following cafe, ‘Bread, Espresso and Arashiyama Garden’.

‘Bread, Espresso and Arashiyama Garden’ is a bakery and cafe located deep in Arashiyama area on a 5 minute walk from Randen Arashiyama Station and/or a 10 minute walk from Hankyu Arashiyama station.

It’s one of nine ‘Bread, Espresso’s branches and one of the most beautiful ones.

‘Bread, Espresso and Arashiyama Garden’ consists of two buildings, a bakery&shop and a separate cafe/seating area with a large Japanese style garden in between. You buy something at the bakery and then walk through the beautiful garden towards the cafe-area where you can enjoy your meal.

The seating area is located in a large (古民家 – こみんか) kominka, a Japanese style farm house, complete with tatami floors and (座椅子 – ざいす) zaisu, which are legless chairs for sitting on the tatami.

When the weather gets warmer the staff will also place (座布団 – ざぶとん) zabuton, Japanese floor cushions outside on the deck terrace of the cafe-area where customers can then enjoy their meal with a view of the green around them.

I mean, just look at that gorgeous lush green. Who doesn’t want to enjoy a bite with a view like that.

As all the other branches this ‘Bread, Espresso and… ‘ sells a variety of delicious breads and sweets that are on display inside the shop.

Besides the bread and sweets on display they also offer a variety of Toasts, Fruit sandwich and delicious panini.
