Located in Irino, Kuroshio Town, Maaji (instagram.com/maaji2001) is a short walk from Tosa-Irino Station. It is also close to the area’s beaches, making it a convenient place to stop for dinner after exploring the coast. If you are driving, there is a car park right next to the izakaya.

Maaji was opened by an owner who had spent eight years working in the restaurant industry in Osaka. The restaurant has been serving the local community for more than 20 years. It originally stood near Kuroshio Town Hall before moving to its current location in front of Ōgata High School.

The food focuses on creative Japanese dishes made with ingredients from the surrounding area. Local seafood, vegetables from Kuroshio Town and Kubokawa beef are among the ingredients used. The menu also includes Kochi specialties such as katsuo tataki, alongside a changing selection of seafood dishes and other small plates that pair well with sake. The restaurant also makes its own sauces and dressings, including a sun-dried salt dressing and chicken miso.
