About

Hi!SandWich is a grilled sandwich specialty shop located in Minamihorie, Osaka, in a quiet residential neighbourhood. The cafes sits on a short walk from Sennichimae Line's Nishi-Nagahorie Station as well as Dome-Mae Station.

Opened on November 11, 2018, Hi!SandWich was founded by Rie Yoshino, who developed an interest in grilled sandwiches after watching the American film Chef. Inspired by the Cuban-style grilled sandwiches featured in the movie, she spent time developing her own recipes before opening the shop. The interior has a playful, American-inspired design, with wooden furniture and a distinctive counter layout. Interestingly, the premises previously housed an okonomiyaki restaurant, and the original U-shaped iron griddle counter was retained and incorporated into the new design. The ceiling was redesigned to resemble a blue sky with clouds, while a roof-like structure above the counter gives the cooking area the appearance of a little house. The shop eight seats.

The main attraction is the freshly prepared grilled sandwiches, cooked individually on the large iron griddle in front of customers. The bread is buttered and grilled together with the fillings, producing a rich, toasted sandwich with plenty of melted cheese. Among the signature creations are the Mummy Cheese, made with approximately 100 grams of cheese, and the Nick Daddy, which combines cheese with beef that has been slow-cooked at a low temperature for around eight hours. Honey is also recommended as an optional topping, adding a sweet contrast to the savoury fillings. The combination of generous ingredients and the open cooking counter makes the sandwiches as enjoyable to watch being prepared as they are to eat.

Hi!SandWich is a great place for freshly made, generously filled grilled sandwiches in a playful and welcoming setting.
