About
One of the most famous cafes in Kobe is the stylish ‘ Lima Coffee ‘, in Kobe’s Motomachi area. Established on October 14, 2014, the cafe’s name originates from the Indonesian language, where Lima means five, signifying the five key elements of a coffee bean – aroma, richness, sweetness, bitterness, and acidity.
The cafe is located in a historical concrete building with a Western art-deco design that reflects the Western influence brought in by the ports history as a trade hub in the Meiji era. Over the years, this building has been home to a bank, a yoga studio, and an apparel store before it became a coffee shop.
Lima Coffee is conveniently located near Kobe tower and boasts of a retro interior design with art-deco elements. The cafe is divided into two sections, with the entrance and order counter area in the front, and the cafe area at the back up a few steps. The cafe area features a couple of tables and a sofa section that consists of a dark green chesterfield sofa. Lovely rugs and antique decorations around the cafe add to the charm of the space.
The menu at Lima Coffee offers a wide range of options to choose from, including espresso-based coffee, syphon coffee, and non-coffee drinks like chai, apple juice, and much more. The cafe also has a selection of delicious sweets to accompany your drink, such as canelé, cheesecake, chocolate terrine, and more.
Overall, if you are looking for a stylish cafe in the Kobe port area, Lima Coffee is the place to be. The cafe’s unique ambiance, menu, and location make it a must-visit spot for coffee lovers and anyone who appreciates a cozy and stylish atmosphere.
