About
If you ask people what café they recommend in Kobe or what the most popular café in Kobe is, they will most likely all answer: ‘Anthem’.
Anthem opened in 2008 and is located in central Kobe on a short walk from Motomachi station. It’s a hidden gem that sits on the 4th floor of a small corner building. The building has no elevator so people who have walking difficulties sadly have to miss out on this one.
Going up the stairs and standing in front of the entrance looking through the glass door you will immediately notice one of the reasons why Anthem is so popular. It’s lovely interior! Anthem has a rustic, farmhouse style interior that oozes comfort and coziness. The cafe has one large wooden table in the middle of the café, some smaller antique tables and chairs next to the windows and a few counter seats next to the kitchen. For a total of about 24 people. The interior is decorated with a variety of antique items which really adds to the rustic atmosphere.
The café has a brunch menu (Croque monsieur or scone plate) and lunch menu which consists “quiche, pasta and croque monsieur”. There are also desserts where you can choose from rare cheesecake, scone, tart or gateau chocolate. It makes for a great lunch.
Anthem has a lovely interior, friendly staff and menu with a great selection of delicious dishes, located right in the middle of Kobe. It’s no wonder it’s so popular.
