About

If you’re looking for a café with a unique interior in central Osaka, look no further— Tasogare Coffee (instagram.com/tasogare_coffee_jp/) is the place to be. Originally opening its doors in September 2016 near Shinsaibashi Station, the café relocated in July 2024 to a larger space on the ground floor of an office building in the Horie area, just a seven-minute walk from Yotsubashi Station on the Yotsubashi Line. Tasogare translates to ‘twilight,’ evoking the serene experience of unwinding and savoring food and drinks as day turns to night.

The cafe stands out from the neighborhood with its exterior that blends natural and rustic elements with a tropical flair, evoking a relaxed, beach-like vibe. The use of weathered wood in the overhanging slats creates an inviting, textured façade, while the thatched detailing above the entrance adds a warm, earthy touch. Large windows framed by wooden accents offer glimpses of the cozy interior, and the lush greenery of potted plants and cacti placed at the entrance further enhances the tropical, laid-back aesthetic. This design effectively contrasts with the surrounding urban environment, drawing attention with its unique, nature-inspired charm.

Inside you will find a spacious interior that covers two floors and has a rustic and earthy vibe, with a blend of industrial and natural elements. The front area is characterized by large, rough-hewn wooden tables and chairs, stone accents, and live plants, giving it an organic, handmade feel. Driftwood and stones serve as decor, contributing to a laid-back, almost outdoor ambiance. Exposed pipes on the ceiling and dim lighting add to the industrial look, while the warm, soft light fixtures create a cozy atmosphere. The second-floor seating area continues this aesthetic, featuring a more intimate and bohemian style with wooden pallet furniture, colorful patterned cushions the staff imported from Morocco, and low lighting. This area feels like a comfortable, hidden lounge where customers can relax in a warm and inviting environment. There is also a moody basement cafe space on the ground floor in the back that combines industrial and rustic elements, featuring exposed ceiling infrastructure and warm Edison bulb lighting above a mix of bar seating and cafe tables, with metal Tolix-style chairs contrasting against wooden furniture and an eye-catching geometric wood floor pattern that creates a focal point in the center of the room. The interior of Tasogare has been fully designed and renovated by the staff, from the custom decor to the made-to-order cups.

The menu offers a variety of drinks and food, with coffee including drip coffee, americano, cafe latte (750 yen), flat white, caramel latte or moccha. There are also softdrink options like chai, matcha latte, juice, tea, soda, hot chocolate as well as Tasogare’s original coffee flavored beer. Food includes tuna melt sandwich, egg benedict, smoked salmon cream cheese sandwich and more. The cafe also sells their own beans that they roast inside the shop, right above the kitchen counter as well as lovely handkerchiefs or giftwrap cloths made by Jura (instagram.com/jura_tsgr) .

Tasogare Coffee combines spacious comfort and a warm, inviting design with a diverse menu, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy something for every taste.
