Shimatoneriko

Located in central Osaka’s Abeno ward, famous for Osaka’s Tsutenkaku tower and the city’s tallest building, Abeno Harukas, you’ll find the stylish café ‘Shimatoneriko’ – instagram.com/shimatoneriko_r.coffee.r . Just a short walk from Tennoji Station on the Midosuji Line, this hidden gem is tucked away at the end of an alley, nestled between a large brown apartment building and a bicycle parking area. Its distinctive crocodile green exterior, adorned with ‘COFFEE ROASTER’ on the facade, helps it stand out. Opening its doors in March 2024, the café draws its name from the Evergreen Ash tree, known as ‘Shimatoneriko’ in Japanese, which is also prominently displayed inside.

The café spans two floors, with the kitchen and a seating area at the back of the first floor, and a larger seating area on the second floor. The interior follows a botanical theme, decorated with numerous indoor plants, and features a large communal table on the ground floor. The second floor offers a high-ceilinged space with plenty of small tables for two. The seating on the second floor includes a variety of elegant vintage leather chairs, adding a touch of charm to the atmosphere.

Since the cafe opens at 08 am in the morning, the menu features a morning menu (8:00 – 11:00) including a Danish bake set and a Good Morning plate. From 11:00 the cafe offers a delicious curry lunch plate. Besides delicious food the menu also offers avariety of drinks including coffee, espresso, cream sodas, softdrinks and even alcohol.
