About

Kameoka Himeki Farm To Table & Pizza (instagram.com/kameoka_himeki) is a countryside restaurant in Kameoka, Kyoto, located beside the approach to Izumo Daijingu Shrine and surrounded by rural scenery. It is approximately a 10-minute drive from JR Kameoka Station, making it a convenient stop for a countryside day trip by car. Visitors can use the restaurant’s parking area, which accommodates approximately 20 cars.

The restaurant opened for its pre-opening period on September 8, 2025, after a traditional Japanese farmhouse was renovated for dining. Its name, Himeki, comes from the local place name Himenoki. The renovation preserves the character of an old Japanese home, with substantial wooden beams, traditional earthen walls and a former farmhouse kitchen. The property also includes a separate traditional building and a renovated storehouse, offering different dining spaces that reflect the area’s rural heritage.

The interior combines traditional Japanese farmhouse architecture with a relaxed Italian restaurant atmosphere. Guests can choose from the main house, garden-facing seating and an outdoor terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside. The separate farmhouse building retains features such as its traditional cooking hearth and thick wooden beams, while the renovated storehouse provides a private dining room by reservation. The restaurant is also close to Izumo Daijingu Shrine, with views towards Mount Mikage, the shrine’s sacred mountain, adding to its distinctive setting.

The menu centres on authentic Neapolitan-style pizza baked in a custom-built wood-fired oven made by a craftsman from Tamba-Sasayama. The restaurant draws on pizza-making techniques from its sister establishment, Casa di Kudos in Shiga, with dough prepared in-house, including the flour blend and fermentation process. Its farm-to-table concept also highlights fresh organic vegetables grown in Kameoka, used in pizzas, salads and seasonal Italian-inspired dishes. Pasta, homemade drinks and desserts round out the menu, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients and their natural flavours.

Kameoka Himeki stands out for its wood-fired Neapolitan pizza and locally sourced ingredients served in a beautifully restored farmhouse surrounded by the peaceful scenery of rural Kyoto.
