Hama No Te Labo

‘Hama No Te Labo’ is a hidden gem of a cafe located in the outskirts of Kawanishi, Hyogo, situated in the small town of Tada. The cafe is on a 7-minute walk from Nose Dentetsu-Myouken Line’s Tada station, and is quite easy to reach from central Osaka. Opened on February 14th 2014, Hama No Te has been operating for almost a decade and is run by a friendly lady who takes great pride in her establishment. The name Hama No Te comes from the owner’s name Hama da and Te means hand, which means Hamada’s hands and is also incorporated in the cute logo.

The cafe’s blue exterior and large glass-in-wood sliding doors give a clear view of the stylish interior, which features a unique artistic design with rustic wood elements. There is only space for four people, with a cozy table for two and two single seats, one of which is a rocking chair. The quiet atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to enjoy some calm, and the cafe occasionally features artwork for patrons to appreciate.

The star attractions at Hama No Te Labo are the delicious coffee and homemade sweets that are carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The cafe’s signature sweet is a Far Breton, which is a French canele type of pastry that is served with a scoop of ice cream, making for a taste combination. In addition, the cafe offers a selection of handmade cookies that are beautifully displayed in a glass case near the entrance, perfect for taking home or giving as a thoughtful gift.
