When the weather gets warmer in Japan, instead of hanging around in the city area, going to the mountains or the beach for fresh air is recommended. In Kansai area one of the most popular beaches would be Suma beach, drawing thousands of visitors locally and abroad.

For lunch Suma has a couple of great eateries. One of their most popular one is ‘Gratefuls’, a hamburger restaurant right next to the exit of Tokaido-Sanyo Line’s JR Suma Station.

It’s a two story café with an indoor and outdoor seating area with a splendid view over Suma beach and the ocean. Food has to be ordered at the counter downstairs after which you can choose your seat. There is a variety of seats that include window side counter seats or sofa seats in the back of the café on the ground floor, table seats in the back or counter seats with a great view over the ocean on the first floor. First floor counter seats are of course the most popular and run out immediately but beware, only some of the seats will have shade from the nearby parasol so if you burn easily be careful which seat you choose.

Gratefuls is mainly a hamburger café but sells a wide variety of foods and drinks including “fried chicken, fish&chips, grilled steak etc”. They also have a vegetarian hamburger as well as a barbeque plan.

The café is extremely popular so expect long waiting times.
