Bird coffee

Near Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park and on a short walking distance from Imazatosuji Line’s Shimizu station is the lovely Bird Coffee. Bird Coffee opened it’s doors in 2009 and has seen it’s popularity grown over the years.

The cafe’s exterior consist of lovely paned windows that cover the entire front and side façade of the cafe. The entrance is a small garden path that leads to a glass canopy covered entrance. Bird Coffee might be a little difficult to find since its surrounded by lot of greenery that covers most of the café.

Inside you will be welcomed by a spacious dimly lit interior with furniture that are reminiscent of a British pub. The entire interior (floor, ceiling, walls and furniture) consists mostly of dark wood with black elements (light fixtures and leather sofa). Even the kitchen backsplash consists of brown tiling. The dark brown wood in combination with the light that comes through the windows covered by the greenery gives this café a cozy atmosphere.

The menu consists of curry and sandwich plates. The sandwich plates come with pickles and fries or chips. However one of their key items are their freshly baked donuts that come in a stylish box which has become a popular item on instagram.

Bird coffee is a cozy café with delicious sandwich lunch plates. It’s ideal for a lunch outing as right next door is a lovely retro furniture shop that definitely deserves a visit.
