Yue Coffee

yuè coffee is a small coffee stand in Tomodacho, Wakayama, located along Keyaki-dori. It is about a six-minute walk from JR Wakayama Station. The shop is marked by the TAILOR Mine sign, which serves as a useful landmark when looking for the entrance. There is no dedicated parking, but coin-operated parking is available nearby.

yuè coffee opened on March 3, 2025, and has become part of Wakayama’s independent coffee scene. The shop operates on an irregular schedule, with opening days announced through its Instagram account rather than following a fixed weekly timetable.

Coffee is the focus of the shop, with drinks prepared individually at the counter. The menu includes classics such as long black and iced coffee alongside seasonal drinks, including creations such as a sakura cream latte. Each cup is carefully prepared, with attention given to both the brewing and presentation.

The food menu centres on sweets designed to pair with coffee. The cheese terrine is a regular highlight, with a smooth and rich texture, while seasonal desserts have included matcha Basque cheesecake served with sakura-an cream. The combination of matcha, sweet bean paste and a subtle salty element gives the seasonal cheesecake a distinctly Japanese flavour.

The interior has a warm, minimalist style, combining clean white walls with natural oak cabinetry and soft, earthy lighting. Large windows with sheer curtains, vintage-inspired lamps and simple furnishings create a calm, refined and slightly nostalgic atmosphere. The compact layout has only a small number of seats, keeping the focus on the coffee counter and creating an intimate setting.

From the outside, yuè coffee has a modest and understated appearance that fits naturally into its local surroundings along Keyaki-dori. The simple frontage and small scale give the shop the character of an independent neighbourhood coffee stand rather than a large, heavily designed café.

The main attraction of yuè coffee is its combination of carefully prepared coffee, seasonal sweets and a small, intimate setting.
