On not even a 10 minute walk from Namba station is this cute little cafe called Osaru Coffee. ‘Osaru’ means ‘Monkey’ in Japanese and is the overall theme of the cafe.

The cafe is nearby a firestation and can be easily found by it’s large white ‘monkey drinking a hot cup of coffee’ logo on a brown tiled wall next to the entrance.

Osaru Coffee’s interior is small and cozy. The front area near the entrance of the shop has a table made out of wooden pallets and has chairs around it. The area is decorated with a couple of plants. In the back of the cafe is an elevated space that requires you to take your shoes off when sitting there, so be careful. The elevated space has more comfortable chairs and is surrounded by cube shelves that are filled with books, toys, antique items and all kinds of monkey novelties. With your shoes off the cozy elevated area makes you feel like you’re at home.

The cafe has a simple but diverse menu that consists of a variety of toasts or sandwiches and a relatively big selection of coffees. Besides coffee you can also enjoy Osaru’s hot cocoa, chai latte’s or their banana shake. Even if you are not into coffee, there is something for everyone.

This cafe is ideal for relaxing and casually having a coffee or to strike up a conversation with the owner about his passion for movies.
